Due to the judicial conflict, the Communist Party of Ukraine continues its activity, writes Ukrainska Pravda.
The text states that in 2015, the Kyiv Regional Administrative Court has sued the Ministry of Justice to ban the CPU, but the Communists appealed this decision to the Court of Appeal.
In parallel, 46 people’s deputies from the former Party of Regions filed a petition to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine regarding the recognition of the law of decommissioning “that does not conform to the Constitution”.
Because of this, the Communist Party continues its activity and still has its own party organizations in 22 regions of Ukraine.
“I am the leader of the current Communist Party of Ukraine,” said Petro Symonenko, the chairman of the Communist Party of Ukraine, in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda. “If the party was banned, could we exist? Taxpayers are demanding quarterly reports from us.
The only problem for communists is that they can not take part in elections on the basis of the law on decommissioning.
