Exactly 162 years ago, on August 27, 1856, Ivan Franko, a prominent Ukrainian writer, interpreter, civic and political activist, was born. If we recall all his achievements, the introduction to our review could be extended to a few more paragraphs, because it would have been necessary to recall Franko’s ethnological, historical, economic activity, his ability to critique and journalism, sociology, and so on. About how people pay their respect to Franko in the social media – in the reactions from DUMKA.
Petro Poroshenko stressed that Ivan Franko is one of those figures who become true leaders of the nation, whom the descendants can be proud of for decades and hundreds of years. And now, according to the president, a new generation of Ukrainian artists find their inspiration in the poems of Franko. An example of such creative searches and finds according to Poroshenko is the band “Odyn v canoe”, which managed to feel the words of verse “Choven” in a new way.
Filming crew of the movie “Zakhar Berkut” has also joined the congratulations on the occasion of Ivan Franko’s birthday. Actors and film director staged a flash mob on the set. They read the verse of the poet, “My Love”.
The writer Stepan Protsyuk imagined what would be the film about Franko. According to Protsyuk, there should be at least ten series, it would be necessary to mention the failure of lecturing at the University of Lviv, the tragedy of his personal life, the death of his eldest son, and difficult relations with other well-known Ukrainians. Also, in this film, it would be impossible to avoid Franko’s difficult psychological state in the last decade of his life, and a harsh and difficult search for love, without which he could not write. Somewhere in the background, all this would be observed by two women, for whom Ivan Franko burned his creative genius and his life – Literature, and Ukraine.
Galyna Petrosyanyak, a poet, interpreter and literary scholar, emphasized that Ivan Franko would not have been the person he was without the classical gymnasium of European education, which obliged to learn ancient Greek and Latin. And yet, despite his deep patriotism, Franco was not limited only by the Ukrainian world. And that’s why he became himself.
MP Igor Mosiychuk even called Franko the founder of the Radical Party, which is headed by Oleg Lyashko. However, MPs should reduce their selfishness a little bit, because Franko hardly dreamed about such a continuation of the “Ukrainian radical party”.
The same thesis was expressed by the leader of the “radicals” Oleg Lyashko, congratulating and thanking Franko. The founder of the Radical Party. Eh. Today, Mr. Ivan is unlikely to rest calmly.
The MP and ex-spokesman of the Right Sector Borislav Bereza named Franko a talented and controversial person, congratulating everyone who appreciates the cultural heritage and literary work of the Master. And Borislav Bereza quite modestly advised reading the story “Borislav laughs”. MPs, what can you say more.
Politician Mykola Ishchuk named Franko as an example of civic courage, frankness, and sincerity in feelings and in attitude towards his people. At the same time – an example of how people’s interests are to be raised above the personal ambitions. Everything would be great, and it’s even written quite well, but this dude, in the end, ruined everything with his “radical party”. Yeah, Mr. Mykola, it was exactly as you’ve said. Franco was sitting and thinking: “Oh, it would be great if in Ukraine after 162 years, a boy named Oleg, for example, continues to develop my ideological achievements”. Cool idea, next year you can use it.
But you can do everything at least a little bit smarter. Like those journalists, for example. They’ve just shared their favorite verses of the author. No, you have to attach your favourite party.
Valentyna Rudenko, a state and political activist, stressed that all his life Franco’s was a Stonemason (the name of his famous verse), who was hitting a rock of injustice and inequity. It’s been a century since his death, but his work, according to Rudenko, is going on till this day. And this rock, which we, trained by the Stonemason, desperately hit, has become smaller.
Iryna Farion, a linguist, a political and public figure, called Franko a genius who, by the way, excited thought and stubbornly was looking for the truth.
The famous artist and caricaturist Yuri Zhuravel on the page of the project “Znay Nashyh” has also joined to the greetings. It is Franko’s contribution that the author of the post indicates as the largest and most important for Ukrainian literature and culture.
