During the visit to Ukraine in early March 2019, the mission of the International Monetary Fund discussed the issue of the abolition of criminal liability for illegal enrichment by the Constitutional Court. However, the National Bank of Ukraine, based on the results of a meeting with IMF representatives, did not see the risks for further cooperation of the fund with Ukraine.
Criminal liability for illegal enrichment in Ukraine was introduced in 2015 as a part of the implementation of the EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan. This requirement was also included in a memorandum of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
