The new findings of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology survey showed that in February a number of Ukrainians who treat Russia very good or just well is 57%, which exceeds the results of the last survey. What new results show, and how to respond to them – in reactions from DUMKA.

Before starting our review of reactions, as usual, we turn to the primary source – the website of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. The press release reads that the positive attitude towards Russia is largely due to the positive attitude towards the Russians. So, 77% of the Ukrainians polled treat citizens of the Russian Federation positively, as for the leadership of the aggressor state, there are only 13% of them.

It is also reported that Ukrainians perceive Russia much better than Russians Ukraine, however, for the year of research, the percentage of Ukrainian citizens who believe that Ukraine should be independent from Russia remains unchanged – 87%.

The director of KIIS tried to explain the improvement of the attitude of Ukrainians towards Russia and Russians. According to him, it is quite possible that the election campaign and the activation of pro-Russian political forces and TV channels affected the poll.

The political expert Olexiy Minakov while commenting on the results of sociological research, emphasized that the indicators are quite threatening for our country, especially before the elections. According to the specialist, such an improvement in the attitude towards a population of the aggressor state and the RF itself can be explained in different ways, but it is equally important that a part of Ukrainian population of Ukraine have simply forgotten that we’re having the war.

Journalist Marina Daniluk-Yarmolaeva reminded that at the end of the last year the rating of Google requests of Ukrainians was published. Back then the leaders were the World Cup in Moscow, Kemerovo, Egor Kreed and two Russian TV series. In addition, the author agreed with the opinion of Minakov: the war has become the occupation of those who are at the frontline.

Oleksandr Aronets, a public and political figure, has stated that the revenge is now closer than ever.

Yevhen Buderatskyi, deputy editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, was outraged with numbers presented by KIIS’s sociologists since nothing has changed: our defenders are still being killed, Donbas remains occupied. and Crimea is annexed.

The journalist Vitalii Portnikov assured that the whole thing is due to the request for hidden collaboration, which gradually becomes the content of our politics.

Political strategist Oleksii Holobutskyi noted that the published results of the poll have actually summed up the outcome of the five years of war.

The journalist and translator, Olexandr Mykhelson, in his turn, stressed that it is worth to read the news to the end, because it turns out that Ukrainians perfectly understand and dislike Russia’s official policy towards Ukraine, however, they believe that ordinary Russians are not the ones to blame.

Instead, political scientist Mykhailo Basarab assured that it’s better not to repost the strange data of KIIS. The expert also said that last time KIIS stated 48% of the positive attitude of Ukrainians towards Russians, the Rating team reported that the figure is only… 20%. And by the end of 2018 two thirds of Ukrainians considered Russia an aggressor state. Therefore, the expert advises to keep calm and look the other way.
