Russian gas monopolist Gazprom reported that it has already built a third of the maritime gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine – Nord Stream-2.
“At present, 818 kilometers of pipes are laid in the Baltic Sea – this is exactly one-third of the total length of the gas pipeline,” the Gazprom report said on the outcome of a meeting between the representatives of the Russian company and its Austrian counterparts.
Gazprom notes that since the beginning of 2019, they increased their share in the gas market of Austria by almost a third – by 32.9%. Upon completion of the Nord Stream-2 construction, gas supplies to Austria and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe can grow even more.
Currently, Gazprom has received permits for the construction of Nord Stream-2 in almost all countries, through waters and territory on which they plan to lay pipelines, in particular, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany. At the same time, the only country that has not yet granted Gazprom permission to build a gas pipeline is Denmark.
