President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that today, February 28, he signed a bill on criminal liability for illegal enrichment and orders to register the document in Verkhovna Rada as urgent.
He argues that the suggested bill takes into account the comments, but the position remains fundamental – the inevitability of criminal punishment for illegal enrichment.
Recall that on February 26, it became known that the Constitutional Court recognized the article of the Criminal Code on liability for illegal enrichment unconstitutional. With the complaint on this article of the Criminal Code to the Constitutional Court on December 12, 2017, 59 MPs approached. The European Union’s anti-corruption initiative EUACI has denied the content of the arguments, which led the Constitutional Court to declare the article on illegal enrichment unconstitutional.
