So, when it seemed that an investigation into the embezzlement in the defense industry was unlikely to give way to any other topic by the number of discussions on the network, our realities have spoken: the Constitutional Court overturned the article on illegal enrichment. About the main topic of the last day – in the reactions from DUMKA.

An investment banker, a specialist in the debt securities sales department of Dragon Capital, Sergey Fursa, is convinced that if the Constitutional Court decision comes into force, our cooperation with the IMF may be seriously threatened. Moreover, the expert adds that the court decision was made immediately after the tranche from the World Bank, that is, if the decision was adopted a week earlier, we would hardly have received these 630 million hryvnias.

Andriy Sadovyi, a mayor of Lviv and presidential candidate, explained that the article on illicit enrichment itself didn’t make major changes since its implementation and application were artificially slowed down. However, in the opinion of a politician, its abolition is a sign that top officials feel that “power slips off their hands” and try to avoid further liability.

Instead, the political expert, Olexiy Minakov, suggested that the announcement of the cancellation of the article might be deliberate misinformation on the part of Bankova to then declare that illegally enriched ones will, in fact, be punished. However, if it’s not true then it turns out that Poroshenko’s competitors got a real blessing, that is, a verdict for a failure of the fight against corruption.

Presidential candidate Anatoliy Hrytsenko is convinced that the only way out for the Constitutional Court is its closure and complete reboot. The politician proposes to stop financing the “illegitimate Constitutional Court”, to dissolve it and to carry out the procedure for a complete renewal of the staff with a polygraph check.

In response to a statement by Hrytsenko, the People’s Deputy, Volodymyr Ariev, assured that proposals to close the court were “irresponsible air rending with loud words”. Therefore, it is worth focusing not on attacks against the court, but on the adoption of the new wording of the article of the CCU on illegal enrichment in the Verkhovna Rada.

The politician himself negatively assessed the cancellation of the article, stressing that without it the fight against corruption loses its meaning.

People’s Deputy Yehor Sobolev said that according to his information, the decision on the legality of illegal enrichment allegedly was personally conducted by the chairman of the court Stanislav Shevchuk. He said that having a cover-up from the leadership of the state, he turns the Constitutional Court of Ukraine into a corrupt business, where any decision can be sold.

People’s Deputy Igor Popov is convinced that the problem is not the cancellation of the article, but the fact that the Council refused to change this article, although it has long been clear that the article was “dead.” In four years, there was no sentence and only four indictments.

A lawyer Yevhen Krapyvin explained that the question of the constitutionality of the criminal law’s norm provided for by the article lies in the question of who bears the burden of proving the illegality of the assets’ origins. In this very place, there is a violation of the principle of presumption of innocence.

And in the end, a bit of sarcasm from journalist and blogger Leonid Shvets.
