The singer MARUV, who won the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019, will not go to the competition on behalf of Ukraine. This was announced on February 25 by the Public Broadcasting.

“After the negotiations, PJSC NSTU and the singer MARUV did not find a joint decision on the mission of the representative of Ukraine at the international song contest,” says the broadcaster.

The department claims that according to the rules of “Eurovision”, the participant must “provide non-political character”.

The second place after the MARUV in the final of the national election was Freedom Jazz band with the composition “Cupidon”.
