Former Chief of General Staff Volodymyr Zaman was informed about suspicion of treason. This was announced during the briefing by Chief Military Prosecutor Volodymyr Matios.
Zaman rejects the reduction of the personnel, combat-capable military personnel and the disbandment of military units. His actions allegedly deprived the state of air defense.
According to Matios, in 2013, Zaman reduced troops to almost 17 thousand people and more than 70 military units.
Also, the ex-chief of the General Staff in 2014 did not make army combat-ready on the eve of Russian aggression, allegedly knowing that it was planned.
A former official subordinated certain combat-capable military units that allegedly could repulse the aggression to the head of the Naval Forces. The investigation believes that this helped Russia to capture Crimea.
