This is an important step in bringing domestic legislation into line with European norms.
The Waste Management Plan is not only an “important strategic document that, for the first time in Ukraine’s independence, determines how we are and will handle waste, but also identifies practical measures that will finally allow us to bring about improvements in this area.”
“During this period, our state has to carry out a number of tasks and practical measures annually, so that the situation with waste is changed. The national plan is precisely determining such tasks, but it also provides for a number of regional plans with an accurate analysis of the situation in the regions and the definition of the required number of infrastructure objects, in particular, waste processing plants, lines, etc,” the Minister of Ecology Ostap Semerak said.
