We live in interesting times. The world is becoming more democratic, and the attitude towards outfit is no exception. Requirements for business clothes are getting more and more open, even in leading companies, women do not always need suits and pins.
Sweaters, comfortable skirts, and even jeans have long become a familiar feature of the office landscape. You could even say that the office style is very close and even a little intersects with the casual style. There is even such a kind of dress code ‒ business casual. This means business clothes, absolutely acceptable for the office, but not too formal.
What to wear to match the style of business casual? Almost everything! It is easier to list what should not be in this style. To summarize, there should be nothing provocative, nothing frank and too open. Excessive nakedness and unnecessary details of a constitution do not contribute to a working mood. But, unfortunately, almost all of this ‒ which should not be ‒ can be seen on women in many Ukrainian offices.
First of all, lingerie should not be noticeable in the office. That is, lingerie is desirable to be present, but nobody needs to see it. We are still here to work. Therefore, cleavage, behind which you can easily recognize the color of the bra, the strap, as if not deliberately crawling out for everyone to see ‒ all this should remain behind the office door. Together with transparent blouses and lace tops. And even under the opaque light shirts, you should wear a sleek beige-colored bra, as close as possible to your skin color. This is a female wardrobe joker, it is always appropriate, it fits everything and will never be mistaken.

The second thing that should not be in the office is excessive fitting. Again, we are here to work, and not to demonstrate the delights of the body with all frankness. The thought prevails that pencil skirts and sheath dresses are the basis of a business wardrobe. Therefore, women are happy to stretch all this, forgetting about two important signs of business clothes: texture and size! The skirt or dress for the office should not be made from too elastic or thin knitwear. Otherwise, they cover the body and make sausage in the shell. Elegant is a pencil skirt, having a length of at least to the knee, made from rather thick fabric or knitwear, and ideally also on the lining. And even such a skirt looks good only if its size is well-chosen. The skirt, shouting “I’m going to tear apart,” does not add chic.
If a skirt or dress climbs upwards during movement, this means that it is too small. If under the skirt the outlines of the linen are easy to read, this also means that the skirt is small, and most likely the underwear is also small or the model is not successful. Seamless underwear and skirt, or dress in size, leave all the details behind the scenes.

It is also necessary to avoid thin knitted turtlenecks and blouses in close-fitting. Although knitted sweaters are absolutely acceptable for business casual, it should be sweaters of a more loose cut and thick texture ‒ for example, as in the photo on the right.
Tight blouses made of thin knitwear, give all the finer points of physique and also draw a few wrinkles on the back from themselves, in general, fit very few people. But even with perfect slimness, even if there is nothing to hide, these blouses are often more like thermal underwear than an independent thing. By the way, they usually do not provide for independence, they should play the role of the lower layer. They can be worn under a jacket, vest or even a shirt.
The girl on the left does not look too office-like ‒ skinny torn jeans and close-fitting turtleneck would be more suitable for leisure. You should wear jeans at least without holes and put a jacket over a turtleneck ‒ and the image becomes much more professional. A jacket is another layer in which the image on the left lacked.
In general, adding another layer is almost always a good idea. If the skirt is covered with a jacket or vest, you should not worry, if it shows too much. If you put on thin turtleneck under your shirt, it becomes both warmer and more interesting. And if you wear a shirt as a bottom layer, then this can ennoble and give almost any sweater the business status.

In discussions of the business style of our women, you can often hear as they say that they don’t have enough money for elegance, business style costs an exorbitant amount of money! Of course, it would be strange to expect from the Ukrainian secretary that she would wear the same brands that successful American lawyers from television series wear. It is unreal.
However, this is not necessary. It is possible to dress decently for an office in a mass market store, which millions of women all over the world do with pleasure. And I give you an honest word of a blogger: the dress of a democratic brand, also bought at the end of the season at a crazy discount, and well-chosen by fit and size, fits you much better than an expensive brand dress that is too tight or too short. You don’t need insane money to get dressed for an office. You need to have a drop of common sense and a half tablespoon of taste ?
