President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a law on the extension of the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land by January 1, 2020. Relevant data are available on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

It is noted that the law №9355-5 was adopted at the end of 2018, however, because of the proposal by deputies registered to cancel the results of voting for the law, neither the speaker nor the president could sign it. Thus, Ukraine lived without a moratorium on the sale of agricultural land for a whole month.

It should be noted that because of the prohibition on the sale of agricultural land in Ukraine (the moratorium on sale), the only way to transfer land to another interested person for remuneration is to rent it. Agreements on land lease are usually long-term and are concluded on average for 8-10 years. At the same time, the cost of lease of land shares is understated, and the market is not competitive, since, as a rule, only one player claims to lease shares, which dictates the price.
