The representative of the OSCE chairman in the Tripartite contact group Martin Sajdik did not propose abandoning the Minsk accords, only expressed some ideas to find ways to implement them. This was said by the Special Representative of the United States Department of State for Ukraine Kurt Volker as for “Peace Plan” of Sajdik on Donbas, reports UNIAN.
“We have these agreements, and they are important because they set a ceasefire, they set key rules. It is about the withdrawal of heavy weapons, the withdrawal of foreign troops, illegal armed formations, the restoration of the state border between Ukraine and Russia. These are very important points, and we don’t want to lose them after getting rid of the Minsk treaties,” said Kurt Volker. He emphasized that initially Russia should stop the war in the east of Ukraine and allow the introduction of a UN peacekeeping mission to Donbas.
