On January 24, the Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv issued a verdict against former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on charges of treason and encroachments on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The former president was sentenced to 13 years in jail, according to Hromadske.

The judge announced that the prosecution had proved that Yanukovych contributed to Russia in an aggressive war against Ukraine. At the same time, the judge noted that the investigation hadn’t proved that Yanukovych acted with separatist intentions, and tried to change the state border.
