Acting Minister of Healthcare Ulana Suprun claims that the Ministry of Healthcare by the end of the week will prepare documents for the convening of a special commission to consider the issue of announcing the epidemic of measles in Ukraine. She added that at the moment the Ministry of Healthcare did not announce the epidemic: “there is an outbreak of measles”, Radio Liberty reports.
According to Suprun, in order to announce the epidemic, the confirmation of a number of indicators is required, among which there is not only the level of morbidity and mortality. “We are collecting all documents by the end of the week to gather this commission and because it’s time to announce the epidemic”, she added.
As Suprun said, in case of epidemic, the Ministry has more powers to purchase more vaccines.
According to the Ministry of Healthcare, since the beginning of 2019, five people died of measles, 8,5 thousand were ill.
