The Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe changed the rules for the formation of committees, which, among other things, led to the loss of Ukraine seats in the regulatory committee, which is working on the lifting of sanctions with the RF, Ukrainska Pravda writes.
According to the decision of the governing body of the PACE, there can be no more than two representatives of each Member State in the regulating committee and the committee on the election of judges of the ECHR. There were still no such restrictions on the committees mentioned; their composition was formed on the proposals of political groups.
It is worth noting that because of the new rules the seats in the committees were also lost by representatives of a number of other states. However, following the closed discussion at the Bureau, in which Volodymyr Ariev participated, he is convinced that the changes are directed against Ukraine because of its work in the regulatory committee. “This seems to be an act of small revenge for the principled position of Ukrainians to change the rules for the sake of the Russian Federation”, he said in a comment to the Ukrainska Pravda.
