The NBU will replace the paper hryvnias of a small denomination with coins, and the banknotes will be released only for collectors, reports UNIAN.
“The Mint envisages the gradual introduction of 5 and 10 UAH coins into circulation. This year, 5 hryvnias can be introduced, and 10 certainly not, they will arrive in subsequent periods”, said the chairman of the National Bank Yakiv Smoliy. He noted that the introduction of coins is intended to extend the service life of cash registers in Ukraine because the banknotes will eventually wear out.
Recall that NBU reported that they plan to put in circulation coins of 5 and 10 hryvnias. At the same time, they stop the coinage of the denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 25.
