Rescued Ukrainian sailors from a sunken ship near Turkey said they didn’t know about the origin of the coal they had transported, Hromadske reports.
Previously, it was reported that the Azov port, which the ship left, was used for the illegal export of coal from the occupied Donbas to the ports of Turkey and other countries.
Saved sailor Oleh Herashchenko noted that he and the team didn’t know about the origin of coal, “It isn’t known to me, it isn’t known to anyone of us. The port is very large, the cargo of the same coal is very different: there is a small, there is a large one – it is completely black and it is not written on it, where it was taken from.”
Recall that on the morning of January 7, the ship “Volga-Balt” under the Panamanian flag sank in the Black Sea near the Turkish coast. The ship could not withstand a shock wave, wrecked and began to sink.
There were 13 people aboard. 11 of them were citizens of Ukraine – four people died.
