The weather of the final week of 2018 in Ukraine will be interesting and diverse. By the end of the week, atmospheric fronts will roll across Ukraine, which will be stuck in cyclones of predominantly northern origin. Therefore, it is almost impossible to single out any pre-New Year day with the sun and a clear sky.
If everyone, starting from October, is asking for snow for the New Year, then the atmosphere will make these wishes come true. True, sometimes there is a lot of this snow or it turns into rain. However, these synoptic nuances make the weather interesting.
The second half of the last week of the year will be under a humid air mass. The snow and sleet will fall periodically. Wet snow will form sticking of sleet, from which it is perfect to make snowballs, but it is dangerous to stand under the wires and rooftops.
In the southern part of Ukraine, due to high air temperature, rain is expected. With the passage of the fronts, the wind will increase, especially in the Azov region. Precipitation is expected to be moderate and small. Heavy snowfall has not been forecast yet.

The air temperature from December 27th to January 1st will be distributed as follows. Thermometers at night will be -1 -8 degrees, in the northeast up to -10 degrees, in the south it will be around zero. During the day, the air temperature is expected to be from 3 degrees below zero to 2 degrees above zero, in Kharkiv and Sumy regions from -2 to 6 degrees. In the west of Ukraine, 0-2 degrees above zero is expected during the day, in the Carpathians ‒ 0-3 degrees below zero. In the southern part, the maximum air temperature will be 1-5 degrees Celsius.
On New Year’s Eve, snow and sleet combined with strong wind will pass in the west, north, and in some places in central regions of Ukraine. In the south of Ukraine fog, rain will prevail, in some places sleet is possible. In the eastern regions, significant precipitations at night on January 1st are unlikely. The air temperature in Ukraine on January 1st will be 2-8 degrees below zero, in the south ‒ 0-3 degrees Celsius. And do not forget about the ice on the roads.
In Kyiv in the near future, the weather will keep being cloudy and wet. In the capital, right up to the very end of the year, snow and sleet will occasionally fall; precipitation is expected to be small and moderate. The air temperature at night will drop to 1-5 degrees above zero, the day temperature will fluctuate around zero.
On New Year’s Eve in Kyiv, there is the likelihood of snow and sleet, gusty winds and insignificant sticking of wet snow. On the night of January 1st, 1-3 degrees of frost is expected, and in the daytime, when everyone will sleep, it will warm to thaw.
From January 2nd, 2019 a cold snap to moderate frosts is expected.
The generosity of the atmosphere is not questionable; we have a full basket of snow, snowstorms, ice and jumps of the air temperature.
