Valentina Matviyenko, the speaker of the Federation Council, believes the creation of an autocephalous church in Ukraine is “a crime” that could lead to a civil war. She announced this on Monday at a press conference on the results of the autumn session of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, TASS reports.
“Look at what they are doing with the church. This is a crime that is happening in Ukraine when secular authorities roughly interfere with the spiritual activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church when they gather priests who shout Nazi slogans,” said Matvienko.
