Winter holidays in Ukraine are beautiful and bright, like the sleeves of women’s embroidered shirt. Although all these holidays have an important Christian content, people cannot but spice up these days with “human things”. Especially Ukrainians. Is there somewhere in the world such a variety of colors and ornaments, customs and songs that already from the St Andrew’s Day or even earlier, begin to decorate the sad winter gloomy days with masterpieces of beauty and simple human talent? Just on Andrew, December 13, an active cyclone of southern origin will reign in Ukraine. This powerful atmospheric whirlwind, adding to the general mood of StAndrew’s celebration, decided to decorate our grey, sometimes abandoned, streets with white color.

Therefore, today in most regions there will be snow and sleet. The cyclone will cause a strong northeast wind, in some places sticking of sleet and will strengthen the ice on roads and sidewalks.
In Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions precipitation will stop on Thursday.
The air temperature in Ukraine will fluctuate around zero, in western regions up to 2 degrees below zero and only in the south will reach +2 + 6 degrees during the day.
On December 14, a mini frost will reign in the west and north of Ukraine, it is expected to be 0-2 degrees below zero. There will also be some snow there.
In the rest of the territory will be warmer, 0 +3 degrees, in the south ‒ up to +6 degrees. Precipitation is unlikely.
Do not forget about the insidious ice.
From December 15, cold air will begin to set in Ukraine.
The air temperature will gradually decrease at night by -2 -7 degrees, in the daytime by -1 -4 degrees. In the east and in the southern part +1 +6 degrees are expected during the day, in the Crimea ‒ up to +6 +10 degrees.
On Saturday and Sunday, dry air mass will prevail in Ukraine, only in the western part light snow will be falling.
Next week, from December 17 to St Nicholas Day, in most regions winter weather with little and moderate frosts will reign.
Night degrees will be within -3 -8, in some places up to 10 degrees below zero. During the day it is expected -2 -6 degrees.
In the southern part and in the south-east, the thermometers will oscillate around zero.
Precipitation in the first half of the next week in most regions of Ukraine is unlikely, in some places there will be fog and sleet on the roads.
In Kyiv, on December 13, the cyclone will keep its influence ‒ it will snow, the wind will increase, the air temperature will be from 1 degree above zero to 1 degree below zero.
On December 14 in the capital will pass a little snow in some places, the temperature will drop to -1 -4 degrees.
From December 15 to the middle of the next week, before St. Nicholas Day, significant precipitations are unlikely in Kyiv.
The air temperature will gradually decrease.
Small and moderate frosts will dry the air and roads with sidewalks. -4 -8 degrees are expected at night, -1 -4 degrees ‒ in the afternoon.
Ice will get stronger on the roads.
From thaw to frost, from the cyclone to anticyclone, from layered grey clouds to December clearing ‒ the atmosphere also joins the Ukrainian winter holidays.
These days we all are like children a little because we are waiting for Nicholas with gifts.
