President Petro Poroshenko signed the law on the termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. It is reported by the press service of the head of state.

According to him, the non-renewal of the treaty with Russia should not be viewed as an episode, but as part of Ukraine’s strategy for a final break “with a colonial past” and a reorientation towards Europe.

He added that other components of this strategy are: visa-free, association agreement with the EU, Tomos for the creation of an independent Ukrainian autocephalous church, withdrawal from the CIS, etc.

Poroshenko also noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine requires the completion of work on the inventory of the legal framework with Russia.
