Texty.org published a statement signed by the editors Roman Kulchinsky and Anatoly Bondarenko, which explains why they will vote for Petro Poroshenko.  According to the journalists, the key factor in the choice was which of the candidates would guarantee the existence of Ukrainians as a nation. More on the open support of journalists – in reactions from DUMKA.

In the text itself, entitled “Why do we vote for Poroshenko,” before the support of the current president, the authors of the publication also analyze the prospects of other candidates. For example, as for Yulia Tymoshenko, “Texty” emphasizes: she doesn’t understand the reality and the essence of war, she doesn’t promise to fight, and therefore she won’t organize the defense of the country. That’s why electing her is too risky.

The leader of the band “Ocean Elzy” Sviatoslav Vakarchuk also got his portion of critics. According to the journalists, the singer in the best case will become some kind of Viktor Yushchenko – a helpless president with noble intentions. At the same time, Vakarchuk does not demonstrate that he understands the domestic politics, and furthermore the war.

However, Anatoliy Hrytsenko was characterized by “Texty” as too naive and emotionally unstable. Editors of the portal believe that dreams and emotions are not the best features for a president of a country at war.

As for the current president, journalists first of all emphasized: he should be criticized mersylessly for everything, because it’s useful for the authorities and keeps it focused. However, Poroshenko, in the opinion of “Texty”, is the only president who will continue to run organized confrontation with Russia.

Nevertheless, Poroshenko worth being criticized, because he’s more businessman, than a reformer, therefore he does not want to destroy the established system of business-policy interactions. The authors of the statement emphasize: voting for a current president is not to give him a new chance for reforms, because as the reformer he’s useless. Give yourself a chance and still have a hope.

At the end of the appeal, “Texty” assured that they had no relations or arrangements with the team of Poroshenko, nor they even received any support from them. As, indeed, from the other political headquarters. Now, well try to sort out how such a statement was perceived on the web.

However, the response to such an initiative made by “Texty” is really different. For example, a philosopher and cultural scientist, Olexiy Panych, said that in general, he shares the logic of authors, because now we don’t have any other leader who should be entrusted with the management of the country and at the same time be safe about the common fate. However, Panych added that in the case of radical changes, we can return to this topic closer to the election. Yeah, you can! However, at that time, the information space will be so filled with propaganda stuff that hardly an adequate discussion will survive in the social media. But we’ll see, it’s me who’s always wrong.

The position of the editorial bord was supported by the writer and translator Ostap Ukrainets. The author confessed, that if rhetoric like “Keep silent because Putin will invade,” makes him laugh, the possible presidency of Yulia Tymoshenko really scares him. Mr. Ostap, aren’t you scared yet? Just imagine that at the same time, the government will be headed by Medvedchuk. What do you think about this? Seems like a new horror movie?

The journalist Gleb Zhavoronkov is convinced that “Texty” just “broke down”. Like, now, that’s not journalistic standards, but a stupid manipulation. Well, you know, I don’t protect the editorial board and I am not taking any of these sides, but if it’s a column, and if the headline explains the main idea and topic of the material, then, come on, what kind of manipulation is it? You click on the link and even before the end of the download you know what and why. Isn’t it?

For someone, the statement made by “Texty” is an example of European practice, when the editorial board transparently states whom they support. And, you know, Mrs. Tetiana does not lie, because this happens quite often. For those who like to doubt everything – Google has its working day from now to the very end of the world.  But how to perceive such texts, as for me, is a personal matter.

Volodymyr Vakulenko, a writer, translator, and civic activist, emphasized that the reason for electing Poroshenko is in fact quite transparent: we must think about the future, not the past, and the current president is exactly the person whom we can answer in case of steps back. On the other, hand are the supporters of other candidates ready to answer to their choices? This is the question. Well, if it’s not rhetorical, of course.

Journalist and project manager Yana Horyunova supported “Texty”, noting that the media not only can write this but even have to do this.  Although the author of the post disagrees with all imaginable thoughts, the text still resembles her own judgment.  Moreover, during the last elections journalist hadn’t voted for the incumbent president. So that’s just how this goes.

But there is something that disturbs users, apart from the standard “for” and “against”. However, the fact that yet, Poroshenko hasn’t made any statements about the decision to run for a second term, but the editorial board of “Texty” is already explaining why to vote for him. Well, I may not be a political expert, but, come on, everything looks quite obvious here.

Human rights activist and public figure Roman Matys noted that this is the first case in the history of Ukrainian journalism when the editorial board expresses the support for the politician. There were also some personal requests: Matys asked the Block of Petro Poroshenko this autumn to support the adoption of a civil law on language # 5670-d. Sure, Roman, Mr. Petro is surfing his facebook, and then he sees: oh somebody’s tagged me, yeap, the law on the language, adding to reminders on my phone.

The photographer Serhiy Morgunov stressed that “Textsy” not just published their appeal, but dared to do so. It was they who dared to do it because not everyone is ready to risk the reputation in order to speak openly in the support of a particular politician. And this, according to him, is more of a civil action. And, also I will add that it looks like a cool text in terms of increase of the views on the website. Without any accusations, but the discussions are illustrating in detail what the community needs now.

Journalist Ekaterina Sergatskova reminded the authors of the text that Poroshenko hadn’t announced yet his ambitions of the second term, and therefore the text is published too early. And the logic behind the position of “Texty” is quite widespread, moreover, they should work better on argumentation. These are reactions, my darlings, this is what they discuss today in the network. Be nice, love your mom and protect your information space. See you!
