The national contender for the “Oscars” in the nomination “Best Foreign Film” this year will be “Donbass” by Serhiy Loznitsa, UNIAN wrote.
The film consists of episodes that have reproduced true stories that have occurred in the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine. Several heroes associate episodes with each other. The list of candidates in the “Best Foreign Film” nomination is now being drawn up – each country nominates a movie that is selected by long list according to formal criteria. By January, short films will be produced at the American Film Academy with 9 films, and five paintings will arrive in the final nomination. The ceremony of awarding “Oscar-2019” will be held on February 24. Recall that the Donbass film of Ukrainian director Serhiy Loznitsa received a prize for best directing at the Cannes Film Festival Competition “Special View”.
