During the Day of the Flag celebration in Dnipro, Petro Poroshenko apologized for the fact that in 2014 he promised to finish in several hours the anti-terrorist operation in the east. According to the president, he regrets that he gave a rise to exceeded expectations and sincerely apologizes that he has planted a seed of hope that hadn’t succeeded. About the reaction in social media to such apologies – in reactions from DUMKA.

Petro Poroshenko duplicated his appeal on his own web page. The President stressed: for him, it became a serious lesson of cautious and responsible attitude to his words and promises. In fact, it was necessary to motivate everyone for a long and tiring struggle, since many of us in the spring of 2014 didn’t realize the real depth of the disaster that occurred even before the war.

Instead, political expert Olexiy Minakov emphasized that these words of the president are a very successful political move. Dear PR ladies and PR gentlemen, it seems that you have been detected. The expert explained that Poroshenko presented an awkward topic for discussion in the society from a favorable point of view. The logic is simple: You want to destroy the dirt – to be ahead of it.

I don’t know whether Mr. Minakov is right, but my news feed instead of the kittens and flag was filled with discussion of the president’s apologies. Moreover, the vast majority of assessments of such a decision was positive. Here, for example, the blogger Katerina Zolotareva noted that you can treat  Petro Poroshenko differently and even fairly criticize him, but such acts give rise to respect for him and to loyal treatment.

A similar opinion was expressed by journalist and TV presenter Myroslava Barchuk. In her belief, such an apology deserves respect and is an important mental breakthrough. After all, it was generally unacceptable to apologize; it was a sign of weakness in criminal subcultures, from which politicians often came from. And you say nothing had changed. Well-well.

The lawyer Masi Nayyem treated the president’s apologies quite skepticism, skeptically, stressing that nobody will return to us time. As well as people.

Serhiy Rudenko, a journalist, and publicist, also wrote about the lack of apology’s timeliness. He asked whether we should expect new apologies after the next presidential term. Well, Mr. Serhii, this is like a vicious circle, you apologize – it’s bad, you keep silent – even worse. You’d better advise the most effective scheme of the actions.

Eugene Mahda, director of the Institute for World Politics, foreseen that apology by Poroshenko is unlikely to trigger a new trend among the other presidential candidates. It’s right; there should be some kind of individuality, recognition, identity. For man does not live by a pitchfork alone.

However, let’s imagine that other politicians have begun to apologize too. Have you? Although, it’s better not to waste your imagination because it had already been made for us by political scientist Oleksandr Paliy. For example, here’s the probable list of “excuses” from Ms. Yulia Tymoshenko. Modestly and cautiously: “I am sorry for dividing the country with Yanukovych according to the plan of Putin-Medvedchuk, for bringing killers, thieves, and terrorists to the parliament”. Wow. It already looks like the beginning of some series. Some kind of “13 apologies of Ukrainian politicians” or something more melodic.

Or the same thing from Anatoliy Hrytsenko (my darlings, don’t forget that this is not a direct speech) – this time the apologies are heard for a country that before the war was left without an army because someone (what a Mr. Incognito!) had sold out and destroyed a lot of weapons. Hmm. I wonder what percentage of written by a political scientist would have come true if the candidates really took over the flash mob of the incumbent president.

The words of Petro Poroshenko were appreciated by political expert Olesya Yakhno-Belkovska. According to her, it’s very important what the president said about his own attitude to words, promises and risk assessment. But, for sure there is something that the opposition politicians who blame Ukrainian but not the Russian authorities for the war, should apologize. Well, maybe they’ll get some instructions from above, and then they will start to apologize. That’s how the things are going.

The writer and publisher, Anton Sanchenko, tried to recall those first-line politicians who, at least for some reason, apologized to the people. Mr. Sanchenko says that he is trying to recall it for the third hour, but he can’t remember anything. Therefore, if you recalled somebody, write in the comments below, and I will convey everything.

There’s no president’s fault. The former Prime Minister Volodymyr Tsybulko is convinced in it. According to him, within a few weeks, Poroshenko made possible the liberation of the most part of Donbas, and that is precisely because of that, Russia had started a direct invasion. Mr. Volodymyr, I wish you good luck, I already imagine what will be in your comments in the morning.

The blogger Valeriy Prozapas recalled that our enemy is one-sixth of the Earth’s land and the second nuclear power of the world headed by a KGB agent. However, many of us still don’t understand this fact, and therefore not worthy of this excuse. That’s the way the cookie crumbles, my darlings.
