“Thanks to you” – this is the name of a new campaign of gratitude to the military, which has started several days ago. Anybody can take part in it, you just need to put a hand to your heart when you meet a soldier or veteran, this way you’ll thank the defenders. More about the important initiative – in reactions from DUMKA.

The simple rules of participation are indicated on the official page of the thanksgiving movement “Thanks to you”. But before the comments, I suggest you to watch a video that can answer all the questions about a new and a really necessary initiative.

Many well-known Ukrainians have already joined the promotion of the national campaign. Among them is the writer and musician Serhiy Zhadan. According to him, such action is important, because thanks to our boys and girls we have the opportunity to live our peaceful life, to solve our own problems and solve, in fact, the problems of our country, changing it for the better.

Andriy Khlyvniuk, the singer and a frontman of the Boombox band, joined the action, emphasizing in the video that it is thanks to our military that he has the opportunity to record in the studio, have concerts and send his children to school in the morning. Thanks to them the peace is where we are now.

Volunteer and founder of the project “Come back alive” Vitaliy Deynega is convinced that free Ukraine is separated from the occupied Donbas by a thin line, made of thousands of people. According to Deinega, we have achieved a lot in our lives independently, but we have a peaceful sky only thanks to our defenders.

Journalist Denys Bigus, in his turn, confessed that he didn’t know how to find the words of gratitude when you meet people in a military uniform. Now everything is much easier: just put your hand to your heart when you meet a soldier on the streets of your peaceful city. The person thanks to whom we have a country. And we have the opportunity to make this country even better.

Thanks to the soldiers – writer, Tata Kepler believes that the war, which lasts for the fifth year, will end, and we will be able to live through it. It is thanks to them that most of the country lives under a peaceful sky.

Albert Tsukrenko, journalist, musician and frontman of the group “Hammerman Destroys Viruses”, emphasized that the defenders of Ukraine are not an abstraction, because they protect the personal world of everyone. Everything for what we live, and everyone whom we love. According to Albert, in his case, it is work, art and the most important – children. Due to them, his daughters are growing up, without knowing what the war is.

The initiative was also supported by journalist Dmytro Gnap. He added that you can say hi just with a smile, or saying “Glory to Ukraine!” After all, the soldiers are cool, but our support strengthens them morally in many times.

Journalist Roman Vintoniv, better known as Michael Schur, thanked for the project and confessed that now; he has a challenge for himself – to make this gesture to the unknown soldier. The author believes it will be uncomfortable and unusual. But he promised to do it because they should know that we are grateful and appreciate what they are doing.

The journalist Iryna Tsybukh told how often she meets soldiers at the train stations, sees their confused, tired glances and anxiety in their gestures. During those moments, according to the journalist, she wants to give a sign “you’re not alone” or “I’m grateful to you”, and the initiative “Thanks to you” is this gesture, with which we can now thank the veterans or soldiers.

The journalist Bohdan Butkevich, also encouraged to join the national campaign of gratitude. According to him, many of those who have already removed their uniform, but will put it back on holidays, must understand that they fought not in vain. According to the journalist, we must learn to respect our army as the only guarantee of our survival in this turbulent world.

Olexiy Panych, a philosopher, and cultural scientist is convinced that this initiative is a civil way to honor soldiers, just as we usually do when we hear a national anthem.

As it turns out, the new initiative already has its first critics and opponents. However, users of the Ukrainian segment of  Facebook already learned how sceptically treat such characters. Especially in this situation, when everyone should understand elementary thing – the words of gratitude are supporting, motivating and warming up.
