All those detained in the so-called “Klymenko tax” case regarding the theft of 95 billion hryvnia were released on remand in custody or after the expiration of the term of possible arrest, the Ukrainska Pravda writes.

“As of July 30, suspects are not in custody due to the expiry of the statutory term of detention – twelve months and the amount of bail set by the court,” replied the Prosecutor General’s Office at the request of the UP.

In general, the investigation has identified 50 former and current tax officials who allegedly were involved in the corruption scheme of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Assembly Olexander Klymenko.

On May 24, 2017 law enforcement officers conducted more than 400 searches of tax officials in 15 regions of Ukraine within the framework of the anti-corruption operation.

The police gathered evidence that the tax service for the leadership of the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Assembly Olexander Klymenko caused the state losses due to non-receipt of taxes in the amount of UAH 95.921 billion.

The detainees were delivered to Kyiv by helicopters.
