The military prosecutor’s office of the Kyiv garrison is investigating the criminal proceedings on the facts of the negligent attitude of the officials of the Ministry of Defense in controlling supplies of the Molot mortars, which resulted in a loss of 7,200,000 UAH.
The court decision of December 21, 2018, includes information of the investigation, according to which the Ministry of Defense and OJSC Mayak Factory, which is a part of the Ukroboronprom concern, were contracted to supply mortars of 120 mm caliber M120-15 Molot that cost 483 thousand hryvnias per unit.
During the delivery in the military unit A4559 (Orzhiv, Rivne region), in part of the mortars were identified technical defects, and some of them broke down during the short period of exploitation.
“According to the results of flaw detection, design defects that are incompatible with the further use of mortars, have been identified,” prosecutors summed up.
Monitoring of the fulfillment of the state contract by PJSC Mayak Factory was carried out by officials of 5277 military missions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, who negligently performed their official duties on control of the products’ delivery, as a result significant damage was caused to the state in the form of losses in the amount of 7.2 million UAH.
