The State Investigation Bureau started proceedings on the materials of a new part of the journalistic investigation of the Bihus.Info project. The investigation involves the receipt of bribes by officials of the Security Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Fiscal Service and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau for not conducting an investigation or prosecution of persons involved in the plunder in the defense sector.
The SIB began a pre-trial investigation to obtain an unlawful benefit by officials who occupy a responsible position (Part 3 of Article 368 of the CCU). Director of the SIB, Roman Truba recalled the need to create their own operational units for the objective investigation of the proceedings. He added that the current legislation allows SIB recruiting only operational units of law enforcement bodies that appear in the investigation of journalists. Therefore, Truba urged to approve the bill number 5395-D as soon as possible, which enters into the list of positions of the SIB as an operational officer.
The corresponding bill was passed in the first reading and in general on May 17, 2017. Then the Rada voted to prepare the draft law for the second reading in a shortened procedure, but the deputies still did not extend the consideration of the document.
Recall that the program “Our money with Denys Bihus” issued an investigation stating that the son of Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleh Hladkovsky Ihor is a participant in the fraudulent schemes in the defense industry of Ukraine. Oleh Hladkovsky, in turn, is a close friend of president Petro Poroshenko. According to the investigators, the management of Ukroboronprom concern knew about fraudulent transactions and gave consent to them.
