The SBU Department of Counter-Intelligence detained an official of the Kharkiv City Council, who worked for the Federal Security Service of Russia.
At the moment, the deputy director of one of the departments of the Kharkiv City Council was charged with suspicion of treason and detained for 60-day.
“It was established that the Ukrainian official was recruited in the territory of Russia by a Russian FSB officer, Alexander Ushakov, in 1975,” SBU told.
“A citizen of Ukraine was a rather valuable source of information for Russian special services, as it was evidenced by the fact that Ushakov met with him on the territories of other countries – in the city of Prague, Thessaloniki (Greece), Minsk (Belarus), and repeatedly on the territory of the Russian Federation in the city of Belgorod,” the representative of the SBU said.
