The Cabinet of Ministers didn’t extend the contract with Andrii Kobolyev, Naftogaz CEO, and announced a tender to select a new CEO. What they think about this on the networks – read in reactions from DUMKA.
An investment banker, a specialist in the debt securities sales department at Dragon Capital, Serhiy Fursa, agreed that it was difficult to explain to an ordinary teacher why the salary of UAH 2 million received by Kobolyev was market-based and fair. But it had to be realized. Because when we pay not a market salary, they sign… a contract with the Russian Gazprom, which costs tens of billions of dollars in the country. Fursa is convinced: Kobolyev worked hard for his two million the first year of work.
The expert stresses: it is profitable to pay a high salary to management because it is them who will bring profit to the company.
Besides, Serhiy Fursa adds that at such moments in the Russian Gazprom they pop champagne and thank the Ukrainian authorities for such pleasant news.
ATO veteran and writer Yurii Rudenko reminded that it was under the leadership of Kobolyev that Gazprom owed Ukraine a lot of money. And given that gas is a kind of “hostage” in the Russian-Ukrainian war and a manipulative tool in the hands of politicians, the question concerning the next CEO is quite important.
The blogger Iryna Medushevska suggested that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman had been hooked on fashionable populism and that he is looking for a new candidate, who will receive less than Kobolyev, because “the people are grumbling”.
Former journalist Kateryna Venzhyk described the situation with Kobolyev as follows: the corporate governance reform was over, just starting.
Blogger Olha Len believes that the government “wants to be popular among average citizens”, and therefore didn’t extend the contract with Kobolyev. The next step, according to Len, could be the rollback of the entire energy policy to the Russian whims.
But the People’s Deputy Boryslav Bereza (joking?) said that after this news in the corridors of the Verkhovna Rada they began to make jokes that the queue of those, ready to take Kobolyev’s place without salary, paying for this vacancy job, is much larger than the queue of candidates, ready to work for salary.
Instead, blogger Mykhailo Shnayder reacted positively to the decision not to renew the contract with Kobolyev, expressing “respect” to Groysman.
The People’s Deputy Oleh Lyashko had the same reaction, adding that the next step should be the return of prize, given to Kobolyev.
Blogger, Olena Yakhno emphasized that such development could be profitable both for Kobolyev and Groysman.
Contrary to supporters of the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the volunteer Serhiy Marko listed the conditional achievements of Kobolyev, stressing that the new tender is needed not for the post of Naftogaz CEO, but for the prime minister.
And finally, the post of the journalist Leonid Shvets.
