The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) found signs of Ukrainian corruption in 65 countries of the world. This is reported by the press service of the bureau.
“Ukrainian corruption has left a trail in 65 countries of the world. The detectives often have to seek help from law enforcement officers from Latvia, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland,” the statement said.
NABU explained that the majority of corruption schemes, primarily related to the activities of state-owned enterprises and the implementation of national projects, involves the participation of companies registered abroad. “As a rule, these companies act as intermediaries, which leave a lion’s share of the revenues of state-owned companies, and later the organizers of the schemes legalize these funds and spend them for their own needs, including for financing political projects. These details of the detectives of NABU are found during pre-trial investigations,” the message says.
It is noted that NABU sent about 500 requests to the competent authorities of other states in order to find out the circumstances of the commission of corruption crimes that harmed the interests of Ukraine.
