The National Bank of Ukraine reported that by January 2019 the volume of international reserves of Ukraine amounted to 20.82 billion dollars, which corresponds to the level that was at the end of 2018.
It is noted that in January 2019 Ukraine paid UAH 883.9 million of reserves, most of which – for government bonds.
At the same time, the National Bank actively bought up currency on the interbank market, where it bought 136.1 million dollars in total, and the valuation of some instruments held in gold and foreign currency reserves changed, which increased their value by 126.3 million dollars.
“As by February 1, 2018, the volume of international reserves remains at the five-year high and covers 3.4 months of future imports, which is sufficient to meet Ukraine’s commitments and current operations of the Government and the National Bank,” the NBU notes.
