Viktor Medvedchuk, the chairman of the political opposition party “Opposition Platform – For Life” and Vladimir Putin’s old pal, said that it was necessary to create an “autonomous region of Donbas” with the anchoring this status in the Constitution of Ukraine. He said this at the first Congress “Opposition Platform – For Life”, where he expressed support for the presidential candidate Yurii Boyko.
According to him, currently the subject of the Donbas is raised by the majority of presidential candidates, but they use it for PR purposes, and only representatives of the Opposition Platform allegedly have a real plan for setting the peace in the occupied territory.
He noted that the program of his party’s candidate foresees the return of “people, not the territories” because of their consciousness, security guarantees, and then it will be necessary “to return Donbas to Ukraine and Ukraine to the Donbas”.
Medvedchuk stressed that peace agreements could be reached in the quadrangle Kyiv-Donetsk-Lugansk-Moscow.
