Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov states that Ukraine is preparing a new passage of warships through the Kerch Strait. He said this in an interview with the ВВС news, answering the question whether Ukrainian warships would still try to go through the Kerch Strait.
“Yes, Kerch is the matter of principle for us. If we stop and retreat, Russia will actually fulfil its task of seizing the Azov Sea, the self-defining new borders the Black Sea, de facto legalizing the occupation of the Crimea,” Turchynov said.
He also added that it would be logical for NATO vessels to come to the aid of Ukraine in the Azov Sea.
