The Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces Ihor Voronchenko met with the commander of the U.S. Navy John Richardson and other representatives of the U.S. Department of defense at the Pentagon. The theme of the meetings was bilateral cooperation in the field of security and the implementation of a new strategy of the Ukrainian Navy, the Pentagon press service reported to Voice of America.

“The U.S. government is working closely with allies and partners in Europe and the world to support Ukraine’s aspiration for a diplomatic and peaceful solution to Russian aggression, including the recent unprovoked attack on Ukrainian ships in the Black Sea. The leaders of the U.S. Department of defense confirmed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, which include territorial waters, and the right of Ukrainian ships to use the international sea routes. As indicated in the Crimean Declaration of the government of the United States, the United States rejects the attempted annexation of Crimea by Russia,” the US Defense Department press service reported.
