In the European Parliament, sanctions are being imposed on Russia for blocking shipping in the Azov Sea and through the Kerch Strait, urging EU member states to close their ports for Russian vessels. This is stated in one of the amendments to the resolution of the European Parliament on the state of implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, which will be voted on Wednesday, reports Ukrinform’s own correspondent in Strasbourg.
“The European Parliament calls on Member States to close access to EU ports for Russian ships coming from the Sea of Azov until Russia restores free navigation through the Kerch Strait and the Azov Sea,” the largest political group of the EP of the European People’s Party stated in amendment, as well as the Special Rapporteur in Ukraine, Michael Gallier.
