The law on the termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on December 12, 2019 came into force on April 1, 2019. This happened the day after the law was published in the newspaper Voice of Ukraine, Ukrainska Pravda writes.
The law states that Russia, having committed armed aggression against Ukraine, violated the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership.
The great treaty between Ukraine and the Russian Federation was signed on May 31, 1997 in Kyiv for a term of 10 years (followed by automatic prolongation of the document if the parties do not object).
