Former head of Donald Trump’s campaign headquarters and Yanukovych’s political strategist, Paul Manafort, was convicted on 8 counts. Such a decision was made by a jury during a trial in the city of Alexandria, Virginia. This is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that 5 out of 8 charges are related to tax evasion, 1 – non-declaration of foreign bank accounts, as required by the law. Another 2 points – for bank fraud. In general, the former political strategist Viktor Yanukovich and the head of the election headquarters of Donald Trump were accused for 18 counts.

If the judge agrees with the jury’s conclusions, in general he faces up to 80 years of imprisonment. The jury, which was determined by the sentence of Paul Manafort for 4 days, consists of 6 women and 6 men.

After Manafort was found guilty, the Center for determining and calculating the term of imprisonment of the Penitentiary Bureau should calculate the term of serving the sentence.

At a special court hearing, prosecutors and the defense will express their views on this matter, but the judge will decide solely.

In addition, in September, hearings on the case of Manafort’s lobbying activities will begin in Washington – the political technologist, working for the Ukrainian authorities, but not registered as a foreign agent.
