Tuberculosis epidemic in Ukraine is a serious problem for the health system of the country. It was written by the acting Minister of Health Suprun on her page in Facebook, reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
According to her, Ukraine is now in second place in Europe on the incidence of tuberculosis (based on the number of patients 100 000 people). “Almost every fourth case of tuberculosis in Ukraine is multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MRTB). That is one that is not treatable with very effective anti-TB drugs. The number of patients with this form of TB make us one of the world’s leaders,” said Ulyana Suprun.
